About Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Science is the first established faculty in Misurata city. It was established in 1984 as one of the faculties of Al-Fateh University in Tripoli. It is considered one of the most important educational institutions in the city. The scientific departments in the faculty seek to prepare graduates to be qualified for teaching and conducting scientific research in various fields of basic sciences.
The Faculty of Science is located at the southern entrance of the city of Misurata at the crossroads of Benghazi Street, one of the principal streets on the main road leading to the city of Tripoli. The faculty includes 20 classrooms, and 13 laboratories for various scientific specialties, in addition to offices and halls for faculty members.
There is also a library that includes many books and several scientific references. The faculty also includes other facilities for the convenience of students, such as a cafe, small restrooms, and entertainment halls.
The establishment of the Faculty of Science dates back to the academic year 1984/1985 and was affiliated to Al-Fateh University based on the decision of the People`s Committee for Al-Fateh University No. (20) for the year 1984 issued on 27/9/1984.
Since its establishment, the Faculty of Science has gone through the following stages:
1. From the academic year 84/1985 to the year 88/1989, the faculty was under the names of:
A. Faculty of Basic Sciences/ Al-Fateh University, Tripoli.
B. Basic Sciences Research Center/ Al-Fateh University Complex in Tripoli.
2. From the academic year 89/1990 to the year 90/1991, the faculty was called (Al-Quds Higher Institute) and was under the authority of the General People`s Committee for Education and Scientific Research.
3. From the academic year 91/1992 to 95/1996, the faculty was called (Faculty of Science) and affiliated to Al-Tahadi University in Sirte.
4. From the academic year 96/1997, the Faculty of Science became part of Nasser University in Khums until 98/1999.
5. From the academic year 99/2000, it was named the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and affiliated to the University of Sirte based on the decision of the General People`s Committee No. (281) in August, 17, 1999 and the decision of the Secretary of the General People`s Committee for Education and Vocational Training No. (787) in August 18, 1999.
6. From the academic year 2000/2001, the faculty became part of Misurata University which was established based on General People`s Committee Resolution No. (308) in June 27, 2000.
7. Since the academic year 2004/2005, the faculty has become part of Seventh of October University.

The Faculty is also keen on continuing to develop curricula and research tools in line with continuous global progress in theoretical and practical scientific fields.
The Faculty works to provide excellent educational and research services for various national institutions, as a contribution to building scientific foundations that serve as pillars for society development and prosperity and to solve problems and difficulties that impede its progress.

- Strengthening cooperation with scientific institutions and national and international research centres to exchange expertise, in order to raise the efficiency and performance of our scientific institution`s staff and to create a sense of communication and ongoing competition.
- Supporting scientific research and graduate studies, and making them an essential part of the scientific contribution and solving problems that face the community and its different sectors.
